When I started Kids Shuttle NZ, I thought I was solving a small transport problem — but it’s become a mission to provide safe school transport for Hibiscus Coast families who need support between school and work hours.
The gap no one budgets for
We talk about cost of living, yet rarely about the cost of time. If you work in Orewa, Red Beach, Silverdale, Millwater, Stanmore Bay or Whangaparāoa, you know the 3–5 pm window well: traffic, emails, and a child who still needs a familiar hand at the school gate.
Some kids can wait. Many can’t. And for younger primary students, a calm, known adult matters more than we admit.
What a modern village looks like (in real life)
For me, the “village” is practical and personal:
The same trusted adult collecting your child—often me, or another local parent/caregiver operating under my TSL.
Gate-to-home and home-to-school rides, planned in advance.
Direct communication so you know when your child is collected and when they’re safely home.
Correct, age-appropriate restraints and unhurried checks every time.
Local knowledge of schools, gates and best routes—because five minutes saved at 3 pm is gold.
It isn’t a rideshare vibe and it isn’t a big bus. It’s parents helping parents—done safely, legally and with care.
Why “care” is a system, not a slogan
I’m NZTA P-endorsed, First Aid trained, and operate under a full Transport Service Licence (TSL). Every driver I onboard is a police-vetted local parent or vetted caregiver. That matters, because safety isn’t a single feature—it’s a chain:
Right person (vetted, trained, kind).
Right process (pre-booked, verified handovers, clear comms).
Right equipment (restraints that fit, vehicle maintained to standard).
Right pace (no rushing kids through a stressful end to their day).
Safe School Transport on the Hibiscus Coast — Rebuilding the Village
We support families across the Hibiscus Coast—Orewa, Silverdale, Red Beach, Millwater, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparāoa and surrounding areas. Some book regular weekly seats; others need one-off rides when life collides. We’re flexible, because life is.
Parents tell me the biggest benefit isn’t the ride—it’s the relief. Knowing their child is greeted by name, buckled in properly, and handed to the agreed adult at home.
“It’s more than transport—it’s that mother’s touch.”
What this means for working mums (and dads)
I built this so I could be closer to my own children while doing meaningful work for other families. If you’ve ever left a meeting early with your heart in your throat, I see you. You’re not failing—you’re operating in a system that wasn’t designed for parents. Until that changes, we can rebuild the village ourselves, one safe ride at a time.
FAQs (quick and straight)
Which areas do you cover?
Across the Hibiscus Coast: Orewa, Silverdale, Red Beach, Millwater, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparāoa and nearby. If you’re unsure, reach out and I’ll see how we can help on your route.
Is it school-to-home only?
We do school-to-home and home-to-school. Pre-booked is best so I can plan routes.
How do I know my child’s okay?
You get direct updates from me (or your driver) confirming pick-up and drop-off. Clear, simple comms—no guessing.
Are drivers qualified?
Yes. Police-vetted, NZTA P-endorsed, First Aid trained, and operating under my TSL. Vehicles use age-appropriate restraints and are maintained to NZTA standards.
Do you take one-off bookings?
Yes—when capacity allows. Regular weekly seats are the best way to secure your child’s spot.
